War Horse Film Review

The film ‘War Horse’ is a fictional type movie, directed by Steven Spielberg. The film is based on the released novel written by Michael Morpurgo. The novel is published on 1982. While the film is realesed in December 25, 2011 (USA). The movie has a 146 minutes duration. Base on the novel, the main character is Joey and Albert. Joey is a horse, while Albert Naracott is played by Jeremy Irvine in the movie. Most of the place where the story in the film happens was in UK.

The movie is about Joey, the horse that travels from country to country for war purposes. Joey will meet a lots of other characters. That time, The World war, makes the people to give everything they have for the army. This also makes Ted Naracott, need to sell his horse, Joey to Captain Nicholls.

War Horse is a great film, Steven Spielberg use different people perspectives in the movie, he uses many different characters that is close with Joey. From Albert, Captain Nicholls, Michael and Gunther, Emilie and her Grandfather, Higleman, and also Colin. The music of the film is mostly composed by John Williams. The characters were played by Jeremy Irvine as Albert Naracott, Peter Mullan as Ted, Emily Watson as Rose, Tom Hiddleston as Captain Niicholls, and many more. Most of the settings is in UK, they create the props and put it on the land, so the film’s actually not shooted from many countries in europe. They just take the elements and put it on the place so that the place will look like the specific place they wanted to have for the movie. The costume is organized by Johanna Johnston, most of the costume is an old outfit. Most of the movie use the medium shot, so that the body of the actors can be seen. Sometimes the movie also use low level shot so that the person in the scene will look strong.

For me, War Horse is a good movie, the movie shows us about bravery, loyalty, friendship and love. The war’s atmosphere can be felt very real. The Music makes us what we have to feel during the movie. Costumes are fantastic, the movie can be felt so real is also because of the costumes that really sticks with the settings that time during the World War I era. So, I would recommend this movie to be watched, for family, friends and others.

War Horse Summary

In several weeks we already watch the film, Warhorse. We haven’t finish watching the movie. In the movie, the settings is in World War1. That time in the United Kingdom, an old man, Ted Naracott, just bought a fole from the auction. He bought the horse for 30 Guineas. When we brought the horse to his house, his wife is unhappy with it. Because Ted still have to pay the rent to the landlord. The landlord’s name is Lyons. To pay the rent, Albert, Ted Naracott’s son have to train the fole so that the horse could plough the land and Ted can plant Turnips. The horse’s name is Joey.

One day, a heavy storm rain is coming and destroy the turnips. This makes Ted have to sell the horse to a Captain Soldier. Joey is use by the captain until the captain died in action because of the Germans soldiers using the machine guns. The horse travels to many places, and to different people wiith one other horse, Thoptorn. After the fail ambush by the British, the Germans took the horses. The one who took care of Joey and Thoptorn is Gunther and Michael. Gunther has to join the army to prepare another fight, while Michael need to protect his brother, since he promised with their parents. So Michael took Joey and Thoptorn and when he saw Gunther, he directly take him to the horse. Then they decided to hide in a very obvious place, windmill. They decided to sleep in the windmill. Until the German army came to the windmill and kill Michael and Gunther. The horses' still keep on the windmill.

The next morning, the owner of the windmill, Emily, found the horses. Emily start taking care of the horses. On Emily's birthday, her Grand father gave her a paddle. Emily then start riding the horse and suddenly, he meets the Germans that still around her house. The Germans took the horses, and use it to pull heavy cannons. Joey and Thoptorn then meets Higleman. A private pointed by the german captain to take care of the horses. After they pull the artilary, Thoptorn became very tired and then, died. Joey is released by higleman and run away. Until he is binded in wires, in a middle of a fight. Then Collin, and also Peter from the fights work together to help joey. After they rescued joey, They did a coin toss and won by collin.

Collin then took Joey and ask the medic to cure Joey. But the doctor says that joey suffer Tethanus and he have to end his misery. When he wanted to shoot Joey, Albert came and says that Joey is his horse, and he said the characteristics of Joey so that the doctor believe him. Joey then meet his owner, Albie. But, there is still one problem that, all horses have to be in auction. The Grand pa of Emily, won the auction but because of the bond between Joey and  Albie. He decided to gave him Joey.

LB Reflection

In this unit, i learn about making a good argumentative essay. We learn on how to create an argumentative essay with a good format, how to make a thesis statement and other things. We made some argumentative essays with different topics, the first one is about the Volupides case, Ahmad Dhani's Son accident and also creating our own argumentative essay. My argumentative essay topic is about SVP needs National Examination preperation. For me, I still need to improve on how i write an argumentative essay. I have to learn to put more evidences in the essay.

The other thing i learn from this topic is about speech and debate. I think I did well in the debate and also speech. My speech's topic is about SVP needs better facilities. While my debate topic is about "Will globalization leads to a brighter future?" We have done the debate, I am the first speaker of my group. But i think i still need to improve my research skills and also to put some expressions when i say something during the debate.

I enjoy learning in this unit, But i think i can do better than i have done.

Two days ago, on 27th of September 2013. We found Arthur Volupides dead body

lying at the bottom of the stairs in his house, his face was facing up. We arrived 20 minutes

after the call, precisely at 2.00 AM in the morning. The autopsy said that Arthur died from a

wound and he’s been drunk.

We did some investigation on the scene to find some clues about Arthur’s death.

When we came, his wife was standing beside his body. Based on what his wife, Queenie

Volupides said, he slipped and fell from the the stairs when he was coming down for another

drink. Arthur was holding a glass in his left hand which was not broken. Arthur was also

wearing a tux under the bathrobe. But what makes it weird is that his clothes were still neat.

But what we found seems odd. First, as a rule, when a person fall down the stairs

they must fall face first. Second, He should be holding the the banister on his left hand, not

the glass. If he’s coming down, the banister would be on his left side. Because drunk people

can’t walk straight without losing balance, they should hold on to something especially when

they’re walking on the stairs. So the glass should be broken or he should have dropped it.

Third, if he fall down the stairs his clothes would have been disheveled. Fourth, Last thing

there were no trace of liquids on the stairs and floor, it’s all clean. If Arthur slipped, then

there must be something to slip on. Unless if he tripped. Now someone should have hit him

on his head, because there’s a wound on his head. If someone fall from short height, the

worst that could happen was getting a bruise.

We also got a report that several hours before Arthur’s death Queenie and Arthur

was having a fight and Queenie went to a country club. She left before one, and invited her

friends to her house. But she arrived 10 minutes before her friends. After her friends arrived

she told them “Something terrible happened…” The question is, why there were no

paramedics? Queenie arrived 10 minutes earlier, and when someone find an injured person,

they should have called the paramedics. Why she didn’t call 10 minutes before?

The evidence that we got are disproving Queenie’s words. First, Arthur wasn’t going

downstairs. Second, he didn’t slipped on the stairs. So based on the evidence that we

found, we conclude that Queenie wasn’t telling the truth. 

My Vacation to Australia and New Zealand !!!

Hi guys, in this post i will talk about my last vacation. During the holidays i went to Australia and New Zealand. I went to Australia first, then New Zealand next. The first designated place is Sydney, but actually the main place we wanna go is Gold Coast, Australia. So when we arrived in Sydney, we directly took a domestic flight to Gold coast with Virgin Australia Airlines. After 2-3 hours of flight, We are all arrived in Gold Coast. Oh sorry!! I forgot to tell you. My vacation to Australia and NewZealand can be considered as a very big vacation, because there are 28 of us that go there, Yes Its a big family vacation. So lets continue, After arrived in Gold Coast, we took the shuttle bus to go to our apartment. Our apartment is in the Q1 Building. The Q1 Building is the tallest building standing in gold coast. We could took the apartment instead of hotel because we are not using a tour services. We travel to Australia independently without any tourgroup help. Q1 Building is a lovely place, My apartment is quite big, it can fit up to 3 Families. The view? the view is incredibly amazing, I could see the beach with the beautiful waves. I also can see other tall building there.

Our first place we visited in Gold Coast is the Movie World. The Movie World is a theme park. The theme of the park is Movies that is produced by the warner bros entertainment company. That means that its include the DC Universe comic characters like superman, wonderwoman, batman, green lantern. The rides' name is also based on the super hero name. The rides i ride is Scooby Doo Spook coaster. The first thing i saw the entrance, i though the ride is only like the haunted house i took a ride in disney land which is not scary. But when i took the ride i knew that this ride will be very interesting because at the first time actually there is only dolls. But after a while the cart is lifted and move backwards, Suddenly..... The cart goes backward like very super fast. I was so shocked. Then the cart went left and right like very fast and after that the ride is finish. The next day, we went somewhere near movie world, another themepark but for me, this is way better than movie world. The Dreamworld. this theme park's theme is based on the movie produced by Dreamworks. We can see kangaroos and koalas there. The next morning we went to the top of Q1 Building for eating our breakfast. Isn't it exciting?? The view is very very very very good. I can see a lot of things from up there. The afternoon, we took a flight to Auckland, New Zealand. The Land of kiwis!!!! <---- that is what Ms.H said. In the New Zealand airport there is a little incident. My cousin luggage contains a chili that is strictly restricted to bring fresh fruits or vegetables to New Zealand. But after all, we don't have to pay any charge after my cousin explain to the the airport staff. In Auckland we went to Te Puia where we can see geysers and some of the historical things that maori and new zealanders have. We also went to Agrodome and Rainbow Springs. In Rainbow Springs, we can see kiwi birds and a lot of trout fish. We also can see KEA birds!!! which is the original newzealand birds. I wanna tell you something i get about New Zealand. The New Zealand actually called the kiwis not because the kiwi fruit. They are called the kiwis because of the kiwi bird. In New Zealand, the original animal is birds. We also go to Mt. Eden in auckland.

After Auckland we went to Christchurch by plane. In christchurch we go to The Heritage for our apartment. This Apartment is inredibly amazing. Each apartment room have two floors. But sadly, it only have 500MB limited Wifi connection each day. In Queenstown we went to the Skyline, Millford sound and also going to shopping spots. In the skyline, we took a gondola ride, then at the top we took pictures and play a game called Luge. The game is really fun, So we took a somekind of cart. The track is 100% Downhill. This is actually can be called Extreme. But i really enjoy the ride. In Millford sound we took a ferry ride to go and see the waterfall and see the animals that lived in the water habitat. We can see cute seals there.

After Queenstown we get back to Sydney. There is nothing special we do in Sydney. it is actually 100% shopping session. Sydney is  most favorite part of the vacation for my mom, because there is a lot of good shops in sydney that she wants to go and buy things there. Oh yeah and about food, we go to restaurants and sometimes my aunt cook for us, we can get the ingridients and meats from the supermarket. This is the best vacation for me.
